About

Pavlos Sidiropoulos was a pioneer of his time, as he was among the first to combine rock with Greek verse and elements of the Greek music tradition. In fact, he was the one who introduced rock music to the public, in a period when leftish political song was predominant as an aftermath of the military junta (1967-74). Today he is considered a legendary figure of Greek underground scene, and one of its most influential ones. A restless mind, he experimented not only in music and composition, but also in acting, poetry and writing.

This documentary does not focus on Pavlos’ life and tragic end; it is rather a recording of his music legacy as it was passed down to the next generations of artists to this day. It is the description of the artistic footprint of a man who became the “dark hero”, the “Prince”, thus inspiring and opening the way for hundreds of music bands and songwriters in Greece. In this film, his words are illustrated with animation by Nikos Bleboutzakis and take turns with Pavlos’ unpublished photos, videos, poems and songs, performed either by him or some well-known Greek bands and artists.

Partners of his, music critics and artists who left their stamps on the 90s and 00s talk about Pavlos’ work and influence. Among them are Makis Milatos, Argyris Zilos, Odysseas Ioannou, Aprosarmostoi, Spyridoula, Giannis Angelakas, Pavlos Pavlidis, Dimitris Mitsotakis, Spyros Grammenos, Stathis Drogossis, Ypogeia Revmata, Kostas Ferris, Konstantinos Tzoumas etc. The film have been awarded in the 6th London Greek Film Festival 2013, as one out of three best creative documentaries.
